On Friday, 21st November, the Yorkshire & Humberside Family Business Awards 2025 brought together an inspiring community of family businesses for an evening of celebration, connection, and recognition.
Hosted by The Family Business Community, this prestigious yet welcoming event took place at The Royal Armouries in Leeds, where family business entrepreneurs, industry specialists, and leaders from across the region gathered to share in the pride and passion that drive Yorkshire and Humberside’s business community. Together, guests celebrated the resilience, and heart that define the region’s outstanding family-owned businesses.
This year’s awards featured 17 categories, including sector-specific honours and the popular People’s Choice and Employee of the Year Awards, both of which combined public support with judges’ insight.
With such an impressive calibre of entries, the judges faced a truly rewarding challenge, highlighting just how much talent, commitment, and success thrive within the region’s family business community.
The evening was warmly hosted by much-loved food writer and broadcaster Nigel Barden, who was joined on stage by the Family Business Community’s co-founders, Dave Clarkson and Sue Howorth, adding energy, personality, and a real sense of celebration to a memorable night.
Reflecting on the night, they shared their excitement:

The Yorkshire & Humberside Awards are organised and run by The Family Business Community, and provide a fantastic opportunity for us to celebrate with family businesses from across the region. The awards were held on Friday 21st November at the Royal Armouries, Leeds.
Co-hosting the Awards, alongside Sue Howorth and Dave Clarkson, was renowned food and drink broadcaster and writer, Nigel Barden. With numerous radio and TV shows under his belt, Nigel works on the Simon Mayo Drivetime Show on Greatest Hits Radio and specialises in promoting British ingredients and artisan producers, particularly in his role as chairman of judges for The Great Taste Awards and as a host at Tom Kerridge’s “Pub in the Park” festivals.
