A Night Like No Other for Family Businesses
The Yorkshire & Humberside Family Business Awards, hosted by the Family Business Community, is more than just an awards ceremony—it’s an immersive celebration of the innovation, resilience, and passion that drives family businesses across the region. This year’s theme, Lifeblood, emphasises the crucial role family enterprises play in fueling the local economy and supporting the community.
What sets these awards apart is the focus on artistry and local talent. Every award is a one-of-a-kind creation, crafted by regional artists, designers, and craftsmen, while live performances from local entertainers will keep the audience captivated throughout the night.
Why Businesses Should Enter
With 17 categories designed to spotlight a wide range of achievements—from Employee of the Year to Leadership Excellence and the prestigious People’s Choice Award—there’s a fitting platform for every family business to shine. A panel of expert judges will evaluate entries to ensure a transparent and fair selection process.
Co-founder Sue Howorth shares her enthusiasm: “Our awards go beyond traditional business accolades. We aim to celebrate the incredible family businesses that contribute so much to our region, fostering a spirit of collaboration and mutual support within the local business community.”
Dave Clarkson, also Co-Founder, added: “Yorkshire and Humberside is brimming with entrepreneurial energy, and these awards offer a unique opportunity to celebrate that. Family businesses are the backbone of our economy, and we want to ensure they receive the recognition they deserve. It’s an unforgettable night for those involved and a true celebration of their hard work and dedication.”

After the nomination and entry process has been completed, the stage will be set for the awards ceremony taking place at The Royal Armouries in Leeds. The evening will be packed full of celebration, fun and recognition.
Co-hosting the Awards, alongside Sue Howorth and Dave Clarkson will be the renowned food and drink broadcaster and writer, Nigel Barden. With numerous radio and TV shows under his belt, Nigel works on the Simon Mayo Drivetime Show on Greatest Hits Radio and specialises in promoting British ingredients and artisan producers, particularly in his role as chairman of judges for The Great Taste Awards and as a host at Tom Kerridge’s “Pub in the Park” festivals.
Speaking about being returning host, Nigel says: “Life is always better for the evening when The Yorkshire & Humber Family Business Awards are handed out. It will it be a glorious gathering at The Armouries in Leeds, celebrating some incredible businesses powered by family involvement. This isn’t always an easy journey to undertake, as working with family members can be fraught, but when they gel together it can result in a marvellous business, underpinned by hard work and intelligent, sensitive leadership, straddling all aspects of the business spectrum. So it’s a huge pleasure to be involved with the awards again, particularly with my Mum’s family heralding from Leeds and Dad’s near Huddersfield. So bring on the 22nd November, as it’ll be the culmination of months of hard graft from our judges, reflected by that of the shortlisted companies.”
