Carl Foster, from JSW Horseboxes and Trailers, was named employee of the year at the recent Yorkshire and Humberside Family Business Awards. The awards were formed to champion the best family businesses across the region.

A crowd of more than 200 attended the inaugural awards ceremony at Headingly Stadium in Leeds.

The JSW team were there to see Carl collect his trophy.  Carl said: “I was surprised to even be nominated let alone learn that I was a finalist. There was such strong competition that honestly, I didn’t think I stood a chance so when my name was read out, I was speechless.”

“The decision was based on the judges scoring and a public vote and I would like to say a huge thank you to those who voted for me; it means such a lot.”

Carl was nominated by managing director Emma Watkinson. She said: “Carl always goes above and beyond — his attention to detail and customer care is what many companies crave. 

“He is a natural with customers and, as I have said before many times, every company needs a Carl.”

Alan Watkinson also expressed his pride of Carl and of the accolade achieved: ”We are only a small company and to be in the shortlist of finalists is exciting, but to win is overwhelming, especially the size of the other companies we were up against. 

“Well done Carl – very well deserved!”
